Sri Pedda Soma Bhupala has defeated the Nawab of kurnool and brought 32 feet long Cannon which was the biggest in the country is still in the fort. Gadwala is also famous for silk Sarees. The weavers can weave a Silk Saree which can be kept in a match Box.

Sarala Sagar Dam is located about 6 Kms away from Kothakota Mandal Head quarters on National Highway No. 7 from Hyderabad to Kurnool. The Technology for this project was brought from California In USA . In this Dam 17 hood Siphons, 4 priming siphons were used. Whenever the Water level of the tank exceeds its capacity the siphons System automatically opens. 

This is the speciality of these siphons. The military Governor of Hyderabad Major General Sri J.N. Chowdary has laid the foundation on 15th September, 1949. This Dam was started in the year 1959. Approximately 4000 Acres of Agricultural land has been brought under irrigation through this project.
